My New York Fashion Week madness started a couple of weekends ago with Latinista Fashion Week. This two-day event sponsored by Iman Cosmetics and Latina Magazine was created to give a platform to emerging and established Latin Fashion Designers to showcase their work. I got my neon on and headed to Downtown Manhattan to mingle with friends and enjoy the show. We were welcomed on the Latinista red carpet by photographers, and cocktails by Tequila Semental. (Check out a sweet and easy recipe here!) My friend got her nails done by Nail Lounge while we waited for the show to start. If you want eye-catching nails with unique hand-painted designs be sure to check them out.
Once the doors for the runway opened, we proceeded to seat front row to take in all the fashions. The night started with a fun salsa dance performance by Piel Canela on the catwalk before the first design walked down. Colombian designer Edwing D’Angelo showcased a collection filled with sophisticated, yet fun pieces perfect for the professional woman. His pieces were influenced by turquoise, maroon, green and light wools.
The second fashion show of the night was designed by Dominican fashion designer, Cenia Paredes. Her collection was a graphic garden of color, and fun prints. There were so many dresses I would totally love to rock on a night out!
The night ended with designs from Nicaraguan designer Shantall Lacayo. Sadly, I had another event to run to and missed out on her earthy collection. Be sure to check these designers out, and maybe add a new piece or two to your wardrobe. What’s your favorite design from above?
