In the realm of alcoholic beverages, I have to confess that I drink anything and everything, except beer. I do love a good Moscow Mule, so when I was approached by the people at Crabbie’s to try their line of alcoholic Ginger Beer, I had to put my apathy for beer to the side and give it a try. For my verdict on Crabbie’s Ginger Beer and a cocktail recipe to make at home, keep reading.
Crabbie’s is made of real ginger that has been steeped for up to six weeks. Afterwards, it’s blended with exotic spices to deliver its flavor, which I have to say it’s great! If you are a fan of Moscow Mules, like I am, the memory of that sweet, ginger-y taste is what you get. Crabbie’s Ginger Beer is a malted beverage, so you don’t get absolutely no beer taste, which is probably why Crabbie’s was immediately given my personal seal of approval. Aside from their original flavor, you can enjoy Crabbie’s Ginger Beer in ‘Spiced Orange’ and ‘Raspberry’ flavors. This versatile drink can be enjoyed straight from the bottle, like any other beer, or over ice with a slice of fruit. It also makes the perfect addition to a whole list of classic cocktails, including the aforementioned Moscow Mule.
Here are my thoughts on Crabbie’s Ginger Beer:
Original: It’s a refreshing and sweet ginger flavored malted beverage reminiscent of your favorite classic Moscow Mule. Yum!
Spiced Orange: It has a very similar taste to the original, but with a mild orange flavor that can be tasted mostly as a delicious and citrus-y after taste.
Raspberry: This flavor is my favorite! From the moment I opened the bottle, I was able to smell it’s sweet and delicious raspberry flavor. Unlike the ‘Spiced Orange’ one, the flavor of raspberries is more prominent on every sip.
My Haute Verdict: Crabbie’s it’s a total “yay!” in my book. Add it to your cooler when going on a picnic, beach day or bring it to a BBQ. Stock your bar with your favorite flavors to enjoy after a long day, treat your friends, or to mix with your favorite liquor.
