Tomorrow, February 19th, it’s National Mint Chocolate Day! Chocolate and mint is one of my favorite sweet combos, so I was all in when Branca Menta challenged me to create a mint chocolate inspired cocktail for this foodie holiday. Keep reading to find out the inspiration behind the recipe, and how to make it at home. Don’t forget to first stop by the liquor store to get a bottle of Branca Menta!
Even though there is a je ne sais quoi in the air that is announcing that spring is finally closer, winter is still a thing. It is cold, windy and the sidewalks are still packed with snow and ice. So, I thought that a hot chocolate would be ideal to keep warm and booze it up in a sweet way. My preference when indulging in chocolate is white chocolate, and you will see me ordering white hot chocolate instead of the classic hot chocolate made with milk chocolate way more often. This is true even when it comes to my coffee, plus my taste buds love the combination of the sweetness of white chocolate with the freshness of mint. Here is where Branca Menta comes in and takes this otherwise sweet and classic winter beverage to new heights.
- 1.5 oz White Chocolate
- 1 cup Fat Free Milk (or any other milk!)
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
- 1.5 oz Branca Menta
- Whipped Cream (optional)
- Put chocolate, milk and vanilla extract in a saucepan and heat to a simmer.
- Stir occasionally until chocolate is melted and mixed with milk.
- Pour into a glass, add Branca Menta and stir.
- Garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles!
