This weekend we’ll be celebrating 4th of July with BBQs, pool parties, fireworks, and of course, cocktails! This holiday is all about those very Americana colors (red, white and blue!) and those stars and stripes in absolutely everything. This applies to your party decor, to home decor, to outfit for the day, to… you guessed it, drink of choice for the celebration. So, to help you spend more time celebrating and less time planning, I’ve rounded up three cocktails that will complement your view of the fireworks very nicely.
So, what makes a cocktail 4th of July worthy? Think a red or blue cocktail and festive garnishes in the flag colors or shaped as stars. Get even more in tune with the theme by using American ingredients or spicy ones that’ll remind your tastebuds of those fireworks we all love so very much. Take a look at these festive cocktails, pick your favorite and treat yourself and your guests to a very patriotic party accessory.
SMIRNOFF has released a limited edition ready-to-drink cocktail that celebrates freedom for all and is perfect for all those summer parties including, of course, the 4th of July. The vodka drink features a pretty delicious mix of cherry, citrus and blue raspberry flavors that’ll delight everyone at your party. You can drink it alone or get creative with it, like in the recipe below! Oh, also, the bottle makes for a great decoration item.
1.5 oz. SMIRNOFF Red, White & Berry
3 oz. Lemon-lime soda
In a Collins glass, muddle blackberries with ice. Add 1.5 oz. SMIRNOFF Red, White & Berry and stir. Top with 3 oz. lemon-lime soda. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
Miss American Pie
This cocktail made with spicy aged tequila, Soltado Tequila, will bring the fireworks to your tastebuds. The tequila is mixed with Apple Brandy and Apple Cider making us reminiscence about that All-American Apple Pie. Pair this cocktail with one of these creative apple appetizers to keep the party going like the Miss American Pie that you are.
.5 oz. Apple brandy
3 oz. Apple cider
.25 oz. Maple syrup
1 lemon wedge, squeezed
1 dash Angostura Bitters
Garnish: Apple wedge
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice. Garnish.
Put the red into that red, white and blue theme this holiday weekend with Maker’s Mark and a Pomegranate Smash. This delicious and tart crowd pleaser of a cocktail has a sweet pomegranate undertone with a hint of honey. Make a batch for your guests to pour and go instead of figuring out the recipe at the bar.
4 oz. Maker’s 46 Bourbon
2 oz. Pomegranate Juice
1 oz. Honey
1 oz. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
Garnish with pomegranate seeds
Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds. Pour over ice into a rocks glass.
