Raise your hand if you are a fan of the show “Queen of the South”! I recently discovered this show looking for something new to watch and I was hooked in the first five minutes of the first episode. So it’s great news that Queen of the South is back on USA Network on Thursdays at 9/10c for season 2! No matter if you are already into the show or about to jump into the action, I bring you the perfect cocktail to enjoy with the show as part of a girls night in or some well-deserved me time.
I created a Spicy Blood Orange Teresita, a take on the classic Margarita we all love, but made with a spicy tequila and Blood Orange purée. It goes amazing with guacamole and chips! The spiciness of the cocktail is a perfect compliment to the creamy and flavorful Avocado snack and the excitement of the show.
My inspiration came from the main character, Teresa Mendoza, and her journey. Inspired by her Mexican roots, I thought of creating a tequila cocktail. Dallas, Texas is all about that spice and it made me think of an awesome Serrano Pepper and Cinnamon infused tequila I have in my home bar. I wanted to make it even more special by adding some extra flavor to it and so the Blood Orange purée was added to this concoction inspired on… well… all that juicy drama. I wrapped it up by creating a twist on the Margarita and calling it a Teresita in her honor.
Now… without further ado, I bring you the recipe for the spicy, yet sweet Spicy Blood Orange Teresita cocktail. Salud!
