Skillshare believes that the future belongs to the curious. You might have an education and a diploma framed somewhere to prove it. In my case, I have a diploma for a BA in Communications and I’m patiently waiting for my MFA in Fashion Journalism diploma to get in the mail. However, if you are like me, the process of learning and acquiring new or better skills is never-ending. As an entrepreneur, there are various things that I’d like to learn to do better, or just explore in order to grow within my business and personal interests.
This is where Skillshare comes in. They have established a hands-on, inexpensive and convenient way to learn anything, from starting your own fashion company to building an HTML and CSS website from scratch. You can find all of their classes divided by categories. Some of these include Advertising, Design, Film & Video, Food & Drink and, of course, Fashion & Style. The exciting part about this learning system is that it is all about actually doing and getting your hands dirty in what you want to learn and master. You get to do, and then get feedback from your teacher and peers in order to better yourself and take your learning experience to the next level. A class on Skillshare will cost you no more than $25, making it not only a great resource to learn something new, but extremely affordable. You can also search classes by level of expertise from beginner to advanced.
PaperFashion: Illustrate Your Favorite Runway Looks with Watercolors
As a Haute Cocktailer, I’m sure you must be really interested in what their Fashion & Style department has to offer. First of all, classes are designed and taught by industry leaders that are currently shaping the world of fashion today, like Project Runway winner Anya Ayoung Chee and Erica Domesek from P.S. – I Made This. There are classes focused on fashion on everything from photography and design to styling and branding. I personally enrolled in a class on brand collaborations. Who knows? Maybe one day you’ll get to wear a Haute Cocktail dress or pour your martini in a very haute martini glass. All I know is that I can’t wait to learn more about a topic that I’ve been really curious about for a very long time. The best part? The class was $19, and I can log in and work on it from anywhere and at any time. Again, super convenient and very inexpensive. There are no more excuses to successfully learn and do that thing you’ve been so curious about, no matter if that is to illustrate pretty fashion girls on a notebook at night.
