When I was invited to check out Lower East Side restaurant, LOVECRAFT, and their menu created my Chopped Champion, Christopher Coleman, I jumped at the opportunity to explore. There were too many things I was loving about this combination. Starting with the mysterious name, to tasting dishes made by a Chopped Champion. I mean… Who hasn’t spent countless hours in front of the TV watching the Food Network’s menu of shows, including Chopped? Yeah… that’s what I thought.

Did you know that H.P. Lovecraft was a horror fiction author born in August 20, 1890 in Rhode Island? This fact gives you the idea of the vibe of this pretty cool place in Manhattan. The location has three different rooms, and each one has its own special power. At the bottom of the stairs you’ll find a space that can be reserved for film screenings and is also where, during weekends, a DJ will have you dancing all night long. The middle room has a stage where bands and other artists perform for our enjoyment. Lastly, the ground floor is an interesting looking scene where you can catch up with a friend over cocktails at the bar or enjoy one (or more!) of Chef Christopher Coleman’s dishes at one of their tables.
I went with my friend Aminta from Clothes and Fashion and we were treated amazingly by absolutely everyone, from the door man to the bartender to the chef himself. After a tour of the restaurant, we got to dabble as mixologists and help make our strong and fun Absinthe cocktails! (Click here if you are more into Negronis!) Afterwards, it was all about that food and great conversation with Chef Christopher Coleman. I had the Maryland Crab Cake as an appetizer and Aminta let me munch on her chips (best chips ever, by the way!) with Creamy Spinach Artichoke dip. My main entree was the Mediterranean Branzino, and the fingerling potatoes that came with it delighted me with its pieces of Blue Cheese. (Yum! I love cheesy surprises!) We finished our dinner with a sweet and creamy cheesecake sent as a surprise by Chef Coleman himself. So good!
So if you are looking for a cool place to enjoy interesting cocktails and fresh food made right; head over to LOVECRAFT NYC restaurant. Make sure to check out LOVECRAFT’s website and follow them on Facebook to learn about all their upcoming events. Or just stop by!
